The Blue Waters Project was created to support active and retired law enforcement officers and their families through meaningful outdoor experiences. Recognizing the unique stresses and challenges associated with a career in law enforcement, the program provides opportunities to strengthen family bonds, reduce stress, and create lasting memories through guided fly-fishing experiences.
Participants enjoy a full-day guided steelhead fly-fishing trip designed to provide recreation, relaxation, and connection with others who understand the demands of the profession. During the summer months, officers may also share these experiences with their families, creating opportunities for quality time together in the outdoors.
The Blue Waters Project also encourages positive community engagement by connecting local children and youth with law enforcement through notes of encouragement and educational activities that foster understanding, respect, and appreciation.

Police officers play a vital role in maintaining public safety, often facing significant risks and stress in their profession. Recently, they have experienced a decline in the respect they receive as both law enforcers and community protectors.
The challenges law enforcement officers encounter can impact their emotional well-being and personal lives. Their families, too, face unique difficulties due to the long hours, shift work, and the risks involved in the job, which can strain family relationships.
To support these dedicated individuals, the Blue Waters Project was established. Our mission is to enhance the well-being of officers and strengthen family bonds. We offer officers a full-day guided steelhead fly-fishing trip, providing natural stress relief and recreation. During the summer, we extend this experience to officers' families, fostering connections and creating cherished memories. We also engage with local children and youth, who write notes of encouragement and learn about the everyday heroism of law enforcement, thereby increasing community understanding and respect.

Starting in late fall/winter 2024/2025, the Blue Waters Project will offer complimentary guided fly-fishing trips to up to 44 active and retired police officers through fall/winter 2025.
