Police officers play a vital role in maintaining public safety, often facing significant risks and stress in their profession. Recently, they have experienced a decline in the respect they receive as both law enforcers and community protectors.
The challenges law enforcement officers encounter can impact their emotional well-being and personal lives. Their families, too, face unique difficulties due to the long hours, shift work, and the risks involved in the job, which can strain family relationships.
To support these dedicated individuals, The Blue Waters Project was established. Our mission is to enhance the well-being of officers and strengthen family bonds. We offer officers a full-day guided steelhead fly-fishing trip, providing natural stress relief and recreation. During the summer, we extend this experience to officers' families, fostering connections and creating cherished memories. We also engage with local children and youth, who write notes of encouragement and learn about the everyday heroism of law enforcement, thereby increasing community understanding and respect.
Starting in late fall/winter 2024/2025, The Blue Waters Project will offer complimentary guided fly-fishing trips to up to 44 active and retired police officers through fall/winter 2025.
